Update to the faux123 issue.

He "created" a branch in his repo for source, but the source/commits in
this "branch" are not remotely close to samsung's "MKG" source, they the
branch is named "KK-MKG", and if you view his "activity" on github, he has
not pust any commits after creating the branch..

faux123 <https://github.com/faux123> created branch
kk_MKG<https://github.com/faux123/jflte_xxx/tree/kk_MKG>at
faux123/jflte_xxx <https://github.com/faux123/jflte_xxx>

as viewed at https://github.com/faux123?tab=activity

the branch was created 7 hours ago as of the time of this email, his kernel
was posted on twitter 22 hours ago, and he admitted that he posted his
kernel on xda, while source was still uploading to github. 7 hours later
- the source isnt uploaded...

as of now, 11/30/2013 - 1147pm CA time, his repo is still not current.

Just a FYI...
Request to update github was sent. Anyone posting a kernel link on XDA is
responsible for also posting source.
On XDA - faux123 posted that his kernel for the i9505g is "offical" (see
post here =>
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46788377&postcount=284 )
directly under that post is a direct download link to the kernel posted
by someone else - but it is hosted on faux123's download server that is
posted in his threads on xda
(see post here ==>
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47997446&postcount=285 )
per his github site - this kernel hasnt been updated in over 1 month.
4.4 source that his new kernel is build from has been out for a few days.
see his github here for the device in question =>
https://github.com/faux123/jflte_xxx
These seem to be a common occurance for "faux123" / Paul Reioux.
Is Paul "allowed" to violate the GPL over and over and over as so long as
he doesnt post the link himself on xda (but he does post it on twitter (
https://twitter.com/faux123 ) ), and he has the files hosted on his
server that is available to the general public?

UPDATE:

5 days later, source still is not uploaded to github. He created a branch
in his repo for the source, but never (at the time of this email) pushed
the changes to his base source.

He has updated a few other kernels, so uploading should no longer be a
problem.
https://github.com/faux123?tab=activity => his nexus 5 and nexus 7 kernels
have been updated, after his claims of uploading problems.

He was given 5 days as is XDA's generous allotment. He responded
immediately about having upload problems so he is communicating properly.

We do not control Twitter. I would think asking Twitter to be GPL compliant
will be quite a task for the Linux group.

I think the complete lack of responses to your posts clearly indicates the level of interest the group has in this situation. As has been said time and again, this list is not the GPL police. Please don’t use it that way and spam everyone with this stuff.

It looks like XDA admins (Kenny Glass?) have picked up on the issue.
Don't know if that's by subscribing here or being CC'd by Eric Dye, but
they may be a better destination to keep pinging with transgressions as
they're observed.

Cheers, Ralph.
