Post by Ralph CorderoyHi Harry,
Post by Harry MillerCan we please move on from the Chad Goodman drama? It's very old
seeing that name mentioned in every other email to the list. I don't
think the gpl violations list was intended to be used as a type of
soap opera so I ask once again, Can we please move on before the vast
majority get fed up and really do leave the list?
Chad's a side issue. It whether GNU-GPL-distribution has taken place
within an ad hoc Internet community that's the interesting bit. I agree
it's annoying when Chad-defenders turn up having apparently never
understood section 3 but their posts are less now and probably not too
hard to delete after the first line or based on the author if you wish.
If left unscratched, it may just be a recurring itch that keeps causing
noise on the list in the future.
Cheers, Ralph.
I agree that its highly annoying to see Pro-Chad people trying to defend
him here.
The reason this is highly interesting, did Chad find a loophole in the
GPL to bypass it. That's the real question here. Their camp thinks they
did. But has it?
What I wonder is, why hasn't RMS/EFF been CC-ed to any of this, or has
he posted a message here to say anything about the issue ...
While this is a pure kernel issue at the moment, this obviously works
for any GPL violation, not just the kernel.
